The item detail subwindow is now in the right bottom of the inventory screen. You can change the current item with up/down arrows or by using the item's hotkey.
The screenshot below is an example of a standard starting equipment.
Also note the time of the day message in the bottom log window. Instead of having a precise HH:MM time printed somewhere, I'd rather print some messages at times (dawn, morning, midday, afternoon, ...). The messages are only printed if you can see the sun light (so when you're deep in a dungeon, you don't know what time of the day it is).
